Arrivals

The 2019 Congress and History conference will be held at the Knafel Center of the Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Study at Harvard Univeristy.  The conference hotel, the Sheraton Commander, will be a short walk from there.  (See below for more information about hotels.)

Out-of-town participants should plan to arrive in Cambridge Wednesday evening, June 12.  The conference concludes after the lunch roundtable on Friday, June 14.

Visitors traveling by air should fly to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).  The airport is about 30 minutes from Harvard Square by taxi or 45 minutes by public transportation.  Public transportation (the “T”) from the airport is most easily done taking the Silver Line bus to South Station and then transferring to the Red Line heading in the direction of Alewife.  Get off at Harvard. The T is free if you get on at the airport.

Visitors traveling by train should arrive at South Station.  It is a 25 minute taxi ride to Harvard Square. For public transportation, take the Red Line at the South Station T stop and head in the direction of Alewife.  Get off at Harvard. Travel time is about 20 minutes. While not free, it is much cheaper than a taxi.

For those driving to the conference, parking is tricky in Harvard Square. Go to this link to get information about parking in the area.

Conference Hotels

The conference hotel is the Sheraton Commander, located diagonally across from Cambridge Common at 16 Garden Street.  Unfortunately, the conference block has already been claimed. This document has a list of other area hotels that have a Harvard rate.  You might also find better deals by visiting your favor hotel booking site.
